Elm Street Celebrates Hispanic Heritage

On Wednesday, October 12, 2016, teachers, students and their parents and other community members gathered to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
The celebration began with a performance by the kids from the HOLA Mexico dance group in the gymnasium followed by a student video that included informational facts about different Spanish speaking countries. For example, the countries' flag, typical food, culture and customs.
While the video played in loop in the gymnasium, parents and students were invited to the playground area behind the school to enjoy tacos, pan dulce, ice cream, pop and salsa and chips.
Outside was also a live music band by the name of Los Implacables for everyone's entertainment.
There was also a Salsa Competition for which 5 judges had the opportunity to taste and choose their favorite. The competition included three categories of salsa: pico, red and verde. There was a prize for the winning salsa.
PCLS would like to thank Elm Street Principal Mrs. Urbic, Elm Street teachers, staff, students and parents for their volunteer work and contribution to the event, to the music group Los Implacables and dance group HOLA Mexico
Thanks to the sponsors of the event: La Mexicana, La Casita.
